70 people fined for not wearing mask in South Karachi

Listen to the story

At least 70 people have been fined and over 18 retailers and markets have been sealed for not following coronavirus SOPs in Karachi’s District South Thursday evening.

According to the deputy commissioner, in Garden, 5 retailers have been sealed and 23 people have been fined for not wearing masks and sustaining social distancing.

Three transport reserving places of work have been sealed in Lyari for staying open after 6pm. Two furnishings retailers in Aramabagh have been closed down and 23 people have been fined.

Twenty-two people have been punished in Saddar and Civil Lines. “We have a zero-tolerance policy against anyone violating the government orders,” the commissioner stated.

The police have been cracking down in opposition to SOP violations throughout Karachi after the federal government tightened restrictions in the town.

People have been instructed not to go away their properties after 8pm until there’s an emergency. Shop and markets are allowed to remain open from 6am to 6pm. The choices have been taken after coronavirus metrics in Sindh rose.

On Thursday, 22 people died from the lethal virus in the province whereas 1,099 new circumstances have been reported.
